Overview
Trezor devices keep your private keys offline. "Logging in" to your wallet means connecting your physical Trezor device to a trusted client (Trezor Suite or a compatible web wallet) and approving actions on the device screen. The device never exposes private keys — it only signs transactions after you confirm them physically.
How to Log In (Quick Steps)
- Use the official site or app: Open trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite or use the official web flow.
- Connect your device: Plug your Trezor into your computer via USB (or use an approved USB-C adapter if required).
- Unlock with your PIN: When prompted, enter your device PIN on the Trezor screen or desktop prompt (PIN is entered on the device or via on-screen interface — never share it).
- Approve actions on-device: View and confirm addresses, transaction details, and contract data on the Trezor screen before approving.
Restoring vs. Logging In
Logging in to an existing initialized device is different from restoring with a recovery seed. Restoring should only be done on a device you control and in a secure, offline setting. Never enter your recovery seed into a computer or share it with anyone.
Security Best Practices
- Always download Trezor Suite from trezor.io. Avoid third-party download links.
- Keep firmware up to date — updates often include important security improvements.
- Never type your recovery seed into a website, app, or cloud service.
- Use a strong PIN and consider enabling a passphrase for an additional hidden-wallet layer.
- Store printed recovery seed backups in separate secure locations (fireproof safe, safety deposit box, etc.).
Troubleshooting
Device not recognized: Try a different USB cable or port, ensure Trezor Suite is installed, and that your OS supports WebUSB if using a browser.
Forgot PIN: If you forget your PIN you must perform a device reset and restore from your recovery seed. You will lose the local device state but can recover funds with your seed phrase.
Lost recovery seed? Without your recovery seed you cannot restore access to wallets — do not proceed without a seed backup.
FAQs
Q: Can I log in from mobile?
A: Many Android devices support OTG + Trezor, and some WebUSB-capable browsers can connect. For production use, desktop Trezor Suite is the most fully supported environment.
Q: Will Trezor ever ask for my seed?
A: No. Official support will never ask you to reveal your seed or enter it online.
